Hello, my name is....well, my name isn't important. I enjoy people watching, debating, spending entirely too much time on the internet, appreciating art, good music, graphic design, and plotting ways to get out of Florida.

I don't enjoy navigating through my quarter-life crisis.

'IRL'.

So, this past Friday something interesting happened. I met a bunch of people whom I've only ever conversed or seen online. I went to my city's annual Twitter/Blogger meetup, exciting right?  Yes, exciting! Add in a little inital ackwardness and that would sum up the whole experience for me.

The people in attendence seemed generally wonderful, but this being my first time ever attending something like this, it was a little imidiating. Not to mention, my social awkwardness of talking to people I don't know at all didn't help. So there was no complex social mingling, or being the life of the party. I'm a little disappointed with myself that I really didn't connect with people the way I would have liked because of that. However, it wasn't all a lost. I had made plans beforehand with a girl I had inital contact with through a meetup group we're apart of online. She, and her friend both turned out to be awesome ladies and hopefully we can get together again sometime.

There was another major highlight from the meetup that I have to mention. The conversation of boyfriends was brought up somehow and I was asked how I met mine. I answered that I met him online. Turns out, the girl who asked, and her friend both met their boyfriends online, too. Oh, the wonders of the internet! Frankly, a lot of the friendships I have now would not have ever been made possible if not for internet. I've found people online that I could only ever dream of meeting offline, and for that, I thank you internets. You're good in my book.

P.S. It's ok, you can be jealous of my awesome illustration skillz.

I think that one of these days you may have to elaborate on how you met your boyfriend online, cause I'm dying to know. I'm sure other readers are, too.

Kudos to you for actually going to a Tweetup - I've been invited to a few but could never muster up the courage to do so.

You're dieing to meet me, just admit it! XD Nah, I'm just playing, but I totally feel you on that one. There's a close nitch of people I wouldn't mind meeting IRL. I'm pretty sure we'd all get along just fine, while others, I'm sure it would be awkward without that monitor to block who we really are.

Thanks for the encouraging words over @ my blog :D I was thinking along the same lines as you, the following day I wrote the blog post...so yeah.

I've wanted to meet up w/ people online for a while, but I can't seem to be in a populated enough area for that to happen. Then, I go back to the communities I'd wished to participate in, and they're doing awesome things like a block or a few miles away from my old place...I guess it's just not meant to be.

I too have met one of my best friends and my current boyfriend online. . . and I'm so grateful for the internet for making that possible!

I've met some pretty cool people online too. I haven't really ever been to one of those meet/greet things & I don't think I would ever do that but I can never say never I guess!

Aww, I would love to attend a blogger meetup. I know I'm terribly shy as well, but it's always fun meeting new people. I think that's wonderful! Awesome illustration as well.

@ Marissa - Hmm. Maybe I shall make a blog post about that one of these days! And do try to attend a meetup, it took a lot of courage for me to go too, but it's really not that bad. I just hope to be more sociable next time.

@ Alicia - No probs! *huggies*

@ Roxanne - If we met, do you know how totally awesome that would be? I think we'd get along with swell. :D

@ Ronesha - Google search to see if they have any events, if you haven't already. I didn't know about these either until I was told.

@ Cecilie - Yes, it's a little awkward, but it really isn't all that bad.

@ Jaye - Yeah, I kind of really effed up her hair, huh? Haha!

@ Jen - I didn't think there were events like this until another person tipped me off about this meetup. It's great to know there other bloggers in my area, but I was about to lose hope.

@ Shannon - If the opportunity ever opens up you should go! If only to say you went to one. It's a unique experience, that's for sure.

@ Angel - Definitely try to attend one in future, especially since you mentioned you like meeting new people.

I've yet to meet anyone in person that I've met through blogging. The idea has always made me nervous (just because I'm shy around strangers), but now I can't wait until the day.

I feel the exact same way! Most of my friendships came from being on the internet. I feel like I meet the people that get me the most online. It's like all the cool people [well minus the uncool people that are around] get online to meet other awesome people and we just click. I've met some awesome people. It's awkward meeting them offline but it's nice to travel.

@ Ashley - The potential for some initial awkwardness aside, it's something everyone who is a blogger should do at least once.

@ Gwanii - I have to agree with!

@ Sarah - Haha! Oh well, thank you!
